Visit with Panther Bior 2

Today I got to southern Sudan after a day of flying.  I took a rental car to Panther's home village. No I did not drive.  He was happy to see me.  We had lunch because I hadn't had anything substantial from the time I took the flight, so I was starving. We had some brown soup, some sausage type stuff, some greens and some other food.  It was all really flavorful except for the brown soup.  My favorite was the sausage type thing.  After we ate lunch and I met his family, we went to the school that he was building.  It was getting along pretty well.  When we looked at the school, I saw other children watching, they seemed very excited.  It was cool that the kids were so excited about the school.  After we watched the workers start filling in a little walk way, I changed into my swimming suit and we took a swim in the Nile.  For some reason it was really chilly although I thought it would be warm because of the temperature there.  After we took a swim in the Nile we went to where some people were playing native music and listened and watched them dance for a little while.  Once I got tired of listening to the music and seeing the dancing, we went to Panther's hut and made a little toy out of clay that looked like a buffalo with a hump on his back.  After we made the toy it was night so we all went to bed.  I slept on the floor in a sleeping bag that I had brought with me.  In the morning I had to leave because I had to get back home for school because it was only a 4 day weekend.  Panther told me to bring his clay buffalo with a hump on it with me as a souvenir and so I would remember him.

Emmanuels Visit-day 6-7

Yesterday was Emmanuel’s last whole day here so I took him to Elings again.  After about an hour I asked him if he wanted to go bowling.  He said he had never heard of bowling so I decided to take him to Zodos for 2 games.  We were there for about an hour and he bowled a really good game of 150.  Then we went home and had dinner from Super Cucas.  After we ate, we watched TV then went to bed.  Today Emmanuel left on the plane at 5:20pm.  Before that we just stayed home because it was raining a little.  When we got to the plane (they let me go up to the plane with him) we had our good byes.  We both had had such a great time.  When he got to the top of the steps of the plane he said he would miss me and that he hoped to see me again sometime.  I yelled back, "I will miss you too!"

Emmanuels Visit-day 5

Today it was raining so we couldn’t go outside and do much.  I showed Emmanuel  some of the video games that I play.  He said he liked them and I let him play a little.  Then we watched TV for a little while.  I let him use my really soft blanket and he said it was really soft.  For dinner we got pizza from Mesa Pizza Co and I showed him how to make it really good and spicy by putting the cheese on it, then the peppers, and then the cheese again. Tonight we went to bed early.

Emmanuels Visit-day 3-4

Yesterday we went to the beachWe had a great time boogie boarding and bodysurfing.  Afterward we were really tired we went home to wash off. After we washed off we went to an Italian restaurant and got spaghetti and garlic bread.  The garlic bread was really good.  The second we walked in the restaurant we could smell it.  That night I called my uncle and asked if Emmanuel and I could go mountain biking with him somewhere fun.  He said we could and that we would be going to go to the Rim Trail the next day.  After I spoke to my uncle, we watched the movie called Home Alone 3.  It was really funny and we both laughed a lot.
Today we went to LA and got dropped off at my uncle’s house.  I introduced my uncle Joe to Emmanuel and Emmanuel to Joe.  Then my mom left, she said she would be back later and went off to buy more clothes for her stores because they were  low on stock.  We then drove to the trailhead and started unloading our bikes.  Emmanuel noticed that my uncle’s ear had something in it.  My uncle then told Emmanuel that it was a speaker that helped him hear because he couldn’t hear very well.  Next we unloaded our bikes we rode for about 2 hours and then went back to his house where my mom picked us up.  During the car ride back my mom asked if we had a fun time.  Really enthusiastically, Emmanuel answered YES!  On the way back we ate burgers from In-N-Out.  When we got home we both went to bed really fast.

Emmanuels Visit-day 1-2

The first night Emmanuel arrived he was really tired when he got off the plane, so we quickly got his stuff and drove to our house.  When we got home we ate pot roast that my mom had made.  It was really good.  The moment we opened the lid we could hear all the juices bubbling.  After we ate the delicious pot roast we went to bed.  I let Emmanuel sleep in my bed and I slept on the couch. The next day we went to the bike store and bought him a mountain bike that was able to go on dirt. Then I showed him Elings Park.  He really liked it.  When he got to the top of the first hill he was really happy, he had made it almost the whole way up.  Right then I realized that the journey is more important than the prize.  That night we ate the rest of the pot roast and went to bed happy and full.
